Ocean acidification is exactly what it sounds like, it means the ocean is getting more acidic. Ocean acidification is the ongoing decrease in the pH of the earth's oceans, caused by the uptake of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The ocean's pH level has decreased by 0.1, which might not sound like a lot, but it is going to soon be deadly to shell fish like Vito plankton, which is on the bottom of the food chain. If they were to go extinct it would cause a domino effect that would eventually be the whales demise, and other marine life.
Not having as much as a carbon output will help a lot. One way to prolong ocean acidification is not using as many fossil fuels, like gas powered cars, coal powered trains, etc, which do in fact release carbon into the atmosphere. Factories do emit a lot of carbon as well, which is contributing to the problem of ocean acidification. Switching to solar power is a great way of helping the environment, as well as switching to an electric car. This is a small step, but one that can help a lot if enough people contribute.
